About

"You came here to be gorgeously human, flawed and fabulous"

-Courtney A. Walsh

My Story

I consider myself an introvert, often lost in thought, and content at home. I love to read, play my guitar, and curl up to watch a good movie with chips and popcorn. My eyes roll back in my head during long boring car chase scenes tho, and the thought of making dinner... again. If I could, I would gladly delegate grocery shopping. My favourite poem is Dirge Without Music and I adore the colour green. I married a guy from Scotland, have a wonderfully sarcastic daughter and the sweetest special needs son. In my next life, I would like to write songs and sing for a living. I often can't make a decision to save my life and am a very quiet talker ( I always feel like I'm yelling as people talk over me...) I can't sit still unless I am doing something with my hands or my brain. I can ( and do ) have full conversations with myself, much to my husband's amusement.

I love to draw and paint faces more than anything. There is a sense of satisfaction and delight bringing a face to life on my canvas,

whether the aim is a likeness or something only recognizably human.

There is a moodiness in my painting, an empathy with the melancholy that I find authentic, rather than sad.

There's a profound beauty in bringing a face to the page, honouring an emotion, and asking the viewer to consider the person within.

A few of my favourite things:

Two truths and a lie

morning coffeeI didn't start drinking coffee
until I was in my thirties. I
couldn't really understand
the pull. But then I added CREAM.
It really is the simple pleasures...
and I'm lucky enough
that I get to enjoy it
EVERY day.

shoesWell, I mean, can a girl ever
really have too many shoes?
paper and pencilsAs long as I can remember I have
collected pencils, pens and paper.
Spending a few hours in
Staples would not be a hardship
for me. I love textured paper and
I may or may not have spent a
small fortune on a beautiful
leather hand bound Italian
sketchbook filled with 300lb
watercolour paper.
It's heavenly and my heart races
when I sit down to draw in
it for fear of messing it up...
( it's only taken me 5 years
to actually start using it)
Italian streetsThere is something about the
quaint, narrow streets of Florence
that makes it my favourite
city in the world (so far!)
I'm working on my
Italian (and my next trip back!)
