A quote to live by….

“Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful” – William Morris

I love this quote. I am not a hoarder and every few weeks I am packing up a box or two of stuff to send off to Big Brothers or Value Village, etc. It clears my mind and is really satisfying. But also makes me realize how much stuff I acquire and have, if every few weeks I can give stuff away! I mean, yes, the kids are always outgrowing their clothes and toys, so that is a huge part of the outgoing, but other things like trinkets and dishes that I obviously have sitting and not being used. I rarely give away a book, even if I’ve read it because books are beautiful:) I love ’em. I also love cups and can’t seem to part with them either. I mean, who doesn’t love a great mug for coffee? In keeping with the above quote, I have many things around my house that are useful obviously, but also many things that I find beautiful and I adore. Here are some pics of a few of the things I love, useful or not….

The above pots and succulents were made by my friend’s talented husband. He does some great work. Find him hereAnd my friend in Hope made this adorable giraffe that I fell in love with. Check out his little face and his knobby knees……..Shelley, you rock. (and you need a website)

The above pic is both useful and beautiful to me. I use these espresso cups a few times a week for my caffeine fix. They sit out on the shelves in the kitchen where I can grab them when I need them or just love to look at them… I’m a weirdo.

And the bowls – love ’em and use ’em for cereal. Say no more.
